FORMULATIONS

FEED MAKE UP FEED CONDITIONS
32% Protein with a specific balance design to complete the diet needs of your abalone. The first-choice for abalone grow-out in most production situations. S32 is a development of the ABFEED S34 Standard formulation and is highly recommended for abalone from the weaning stage up to marketable size.

LAUNCHED OTHER
Formulated through Marifeed’s R&D team and launched in 2019. Now with 13 months of farm trial conditions backing up its performance. Since its launch in 2019 this diet has gained widespread acceptance as a worthy successor to the S34 Standard and Prime formulations. Its formulation is well-balanced to the abalone’s nutritional requirements, resulting in improved growth and reduced feed cost. Furthermore, results of product processing suggest improvements in canning yield. Lower protein offers improvements in water quality and tank hygiene. Kelp can be added on request. Pellet sizes can be custom made to suit the farmer’s application.

LAUNCHED OTHER
Formulated through Marifeed’s R&D team and launched in 2020. Now with 13 months of farm trial conditions backing up its performance. Since its launch in 2020 this diet has gained widespread acceptance as a lower-cost alternative to the S32 formulation, with only slightly less protein. Its formulation is well-balanced to the abalone’s nutritional requirements, resulting in good growth and reduced feed cost. Long-term trials confirm it offers comparable growth to the original ABFEED S34 formulations.
Lower protein offers improvements in water quality and tank hygiene.
ASC certification is easily attainable on this feed.
FEED MAKE UP FEED CONDITIONS
30% Protein with a good balance of amino acids and nutritional need for your abalone health and growth S30 is a development of the ABFEED S34 Standard formulation and is suitable for abalone from the weaning stage up to marketable size, at the full range of water temperatures. Talk to our sales person for discussion regarding temperature conditions and specifications for your farm.

Formulated through Marifeed’s R&D team and launched in 2020. Now with 13 months of farm trial conditions backing up its performance. Since its launch in 2020 this diet has gained widespread use as a low-cost alternative to the S32 formulation, with only slightly less protein. Its formulation is well-balanced to the abalone’s nutritional requirements, resulting in good growth and reduced feed cost. Long-term trials confirm it offers comparable growth to the original ABFEED S34 formulations but there is a slight sacrifice in growth performance that is apparent over long time periods. Therefore, recommended for situations in which feed cost is more important than maximum growth, or in which a cost-effective means is sought to increase feed volume.
Lower protein offers improvements in water quality and tank hygiene.
ASC certification is easily attainable on this feed.
FEED MAKE UP FEED CONDITIONS
32% Protein weaning diet which includes biosecure seaweed. The first-choice for weaning of juvenile abalone from diatoms onto formulated feed. This formulation is scientifically developed to provide the best, balanced nutrition for juvenile abalone during the weaning phase, including the benefits of biosecure seaweeds. Furthermore, this formulation is supplied only as a disc-pellet, which ensures the abalone are able to make best use of the nutrition you are providing. Extremely effective for juvenile abalone of 2-12mm shell-length. Excellent growth and health and also improved tank hygiene. Avoid over-feeding and remove any uneaten feed every 1 – 2 days to achieve the best hygiene at this sensitive stage of the farming process.
LAUNCHED OTHER
Formulated through Marifeed R&D team and 12 month farm trial conditions at 3 farms. Launched in 2019 Developed for maximizing growth in your weaning department with improved tank hygiene results and shell quality of your abalone. This formulation is available in 2mm, 3mm and 4 mm disc pellets.
Some countries require a registration of formulations containing seaweed prior to import. Contact us well ahead of time to ensure we are in a position to meet your needs.

34% Protein. S34 Standard is a development of the original ABFEED S34 Prime formulation, which can be used for abalone from the weaning stage up to marketable size. Not recommended for H. midae at temperatures exceeding 20°C. It is well accepted by farmers that this diet offers the performance of S34 Prime at lower cost. Recommended for farmers that are uncompromising in obtaining maximum growth performance.

The water-stability of this formulation can be adjusted during the manufacturing process to suit unusually cold water temperatures of below 12℃.

Launched 1994 and greatly improved through R&D and farm trials to date. Kelp can be added on request. Pellet sizes can be custom made to suit the farmer’s application. High protein level requires good water exchange rate. Could be problematic in some recirculation systems.
FEED MAKE UP FEED CONDITIONS
34% Protein. S34 Prime is the original ABFEED formulation and is still used by some farmers in weaning. Not recommended for H. midae at temperatures exceeding 20°C. We believe that next generation ABFEED formulations offer equivalent growth at lower cost but this formulation remains popular with some farmers, for certain applications.

Single-species fishmeal.

26% Protein. Research showed that H. midae grows just as well on this formulation for abalone from 15 mm to market size. More suited to higher temperatures, but is effective from at least 14°C.

PELLET FORMS

SPECIFICATIONS FORMULATION
Pellet Size: 30 mm x 30 mm x 1.2 mm. Highly recommended by Marifeed for abalone of 12 mm shell-length, and larger, in systems in which the abalone are kept in oyster-mesh baskets. The pellets are highly water-stable, creating minimal waste within the tank environment. The maximum amount of nutritional value is enabled to reach the abalone.

SPECIFICATIONS FORMULATION
Pellet size: 10 mm x 40 mm x 1.2 mm. Suitable for abalone of 12 mm shell-length, and larger, in systems in which the abalone are kept in oyster-mesh baskets. Some farms prefer a longer pellet as they feel this reduces losses during feeding.
The pellets are highly water-stable, creating minimal waste within the tank environment. The maximum amount of nutritional value is enabled to reach the abalone.

5 mm x 5 mm x 1.2 mm. The 5×5 pellet is suitable for grow-out abalone, in conditions where the abalone live in baskets with 2mm holes, or when feeding occurs on the solid base of the tank. The pellets are more dense than seawater resulting in all reaching the tank bottom, with industry-leading, low levels of washout. The pellets are highly water-stable, creating minimal waste within the tank environment. The maximum amount of nutritional value is enabled to reach the abalone.
